# HOW TO FACTORING ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION

HOW TO FACTORING ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION
Given the Example:

Factoring algebraic expression of  8x + 6y

Answer:

To factoring algebraic expression, for each term has common factor/divisor e.g 2

= 2.4x + 2.3y

write 2 in front of the bracket

= 2 (4x + 3y)

Word Problems ( Just fiction stories)

1) In a car donation, a wedding picture bussinessman wants to give 6 jeeps and 4 mini buses equally to a  group of car donation agencies. Calculate the largest possible numbers of agencies in the group.

Answer:

6 jeeps + 4 mini buses

To factoring algebraic expression above, for each term has common factor/divisor e.g 2

2.3 jeeps + 2.2 mini buses

write 2 in front of the bracket

( 3 jeeps + 2 mini buses )

So, the largest possible numbers of agencies is 2, will be given equally.

2) In a charity day, a mesothelioma attorney wants to give 25 computers and 30 laptops equally to a group of schools. Calculate the largest possible numbers of schools in the group.

Answer:

25 computers + 30 laptops

To factoring algebraic expression above, for each term has common factor/divisor e.g 5

5.5 computers + 5.6 laptops

write 5 in front of the bracket

5 ( 5 computers + 6 laptops)

So, the largest possible numbers of schools is 5, will receive equally.

3) A hotels and cottages bussinessman wants to put 12 gold bars and 8 diamonds equally to a group of boxes. Calculate the largest possible numbers of boxes in the group.

Answer:

12 gold bars + 8 diamonds

To factoring algebraic expression above, for each term has common factor/divisor e.g 4

4.3gold bars + 4.2 diamonds

write 4 in front of the bracket

4 ( 3gold bars + 2 diamonds)

So, the largest possible numbers of boxes is 4, will put inside it equally.

Other Example

Example 1:

Factoring algebraic expression of  15a + 10b

Answer:

To factoring algebraic expression above, for each term has common factor/divisor e.g 5

= 5.3a + 5.2b

write 5 in front of the bracket

= 5 (3a + 2b)

Example 2:

Factoring algebraic expression of  15ax + 20ay

Answer:

To factoring algebraic expression above, for each term has common factor/divisor e.g 5a

5a.3x + 5a.4y

write 5a in front of the bracket

5a (3x + 4y)

Example 3:

Factoring algebraic expression of  30bz + 21az

Answer:

To factoring algebraic expression above, for each term has common factor/divisor e.g 3z

3z.10b + 3z.7a

write 3z in front of the bracket

= 3z (10b + 7a)

Example 4:

Factoring algebraic expression of  xy + 2y + 10 + 5x

Answer:

To factoring algebraic expression above, for xy + 2y has common factor/divisor e.g y,
for 10 + 5x has common factor/divisor e.g 5.

y.x + y.2 + 5.2 + 5.x

write y and 5 in front of the bracket

y (x+2) + 5 (2+x)

Now, all terms has common factor e.g (2+x)

write (2+x) in front of the bracket

= (2+x) (y+5)

# HOW TO IDENTIFY AN ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION

HOW TO IDENTIFY AN ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION
Look at the story below

John is a Riverside Accident Lawyer. He has 2 airplanes, 5 bikes and 9 cars. How many total items John has?

Answer:
In algebraic expression, we can represent what John has as 2a + 5b + 9c. In the expression 2a + 5b +9c, each addend is known as a term. Then, John has 100 dollar in his wallet. We can rewrite everything he has is 2a + 5b + 9c + 100.
Based the algebraic expression above, we have four terms, e.g 2a, 5b, 9c, and 100, three variables, e.g a, b and c, three coefficients, e.g 2, 5, 9 and One constant, e.g 100. Constant doesn't have variables attached to them.
Or, we can draw the expression as
Now, your turn to identify each of the following stories.
1. In a cottage area, there are 12 rooms, 7 computers and  2 owner wedding pictures. How many total items cottage has?
2. In an airline ticket room, there are sitting 9 old mans, 18 ladies, 7 men. How many total people are there?
3. An online store sells 120 laptops, 20 gold bars, 28 cerebral palsy legs. How many total items store sells?

# HOW TO MULTIPLYING AN ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION

HOW TO MULTIPLYING AN ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION
Example1:

3a multiplied by 5a

= 3a . 5a
= 15 a.a

Example 2:

Example 3 :

Word Problem:
1. Mesothelioma attorney office has 7 rooms, for each room has 12 chairs. How many chairs that office has?

Answer:

7 x 12 chairs = 84 chairs

2. a Hawaii tourism hotel has 12 floors, for each floor has 24 rooms, how many rooms that hotel has?

Answer:

12 x 24 rooms = 288 rooms

3. A store sells cerebral palsy legs, They can sell 17 legs every month in average.
How many legs that store can sell in 1.5 years.

Answer:

1.5 years = 18 months

So, 17 x 18 = 306 cerebral palsy legs in 1.5 years
